WE ALL HAD A DREAM

Site specific art installation in the spaces of the synagogue in Koprivnica, June 2018

Festival of Performing Arts and Theatre (FIUK), Koprivnica, Croatia
The site-specific art installation “We all had a dream” refers to the historical context of M. L. King’s statement of “I have a dream,” which represents one of the most iconic speeches in history that concern prosperity within the context of human rights, but also wellbeing in general. Observing and perceiving recent goings-on on the American continent, a great change did not occur, and those same problems are still very much noticeable today. If we were to examine Europe as a community of nations, from the recent affairs concerning ethnic groups, minorities, emigrants etc. we can easily notice that “the Old Continent” also does not live its own dream, especially if we were to take the motto “In varietate concordia” (United in diversity) as a guideline. We come to a conclusion that unity and diversity never took hold on European soil, and that the stated motto merely represents a utopia. The work “We all had a dream,” as a partial paraphrase of King’s speech applied to the present day, speaks of the dreams of a state, a community, of wellbeing etc.
Or, simply put, “I dream that my two children will one day live in a country where they will not be perceived through the blue, red, or black colour, but according to the worth of their individuality…”

Rad „We all had a dream“ kao djelomična parafraza Kingovog govora, prenesen u današnjicu progovara o snovima o državi, zajednici, boljitku, itd.
